Los Altos Stage Company is holding open auditions for Lisa Loomer’s Distracted
All roles are open in Lisa Loomer’s brilliant play about a boy who’s told he has ADHD, the phalanx of experts eager to diagnose him, and his parents’ quest for answers. Los Altos Stage Company’s production is directed by Executive Artistic Director Gary Landis (The Fantasticks, Middletown, Maple and Vine.)
Performance dates: Wednesday through Sunday, April 12th-May 6th. Wednesday-Saturday performances start at 8pm. Sundays start at 3pm.
Audition date: Tuesday, September 26th, 6:00pm-9:00pm.
Where: Hillview Community Center, Room 15, Los Altos CA, 94022
Callbacks: Saturday, September 30th from 11:00am-3:00pm in Hillview Community Center Room 15.
Rehearsals: Weekly, Sunday through Thursday, from 6pm-9pm (Sundays) and 7pm-10pm (Monday-Thursday). Rehearsals begin February 26th, 2018.
Audition requirements: Please prepare a contemporary monologue, two minutes maximum. Actors invited to callbacks will be given readings from the script.

Character Breakdown (For this production, LASC is interested in seeing actors of all ethnicities for all roles.)
Mama: Female, mid 30s/early 40s. An unfailingly positive person who keeps her ironic sense of humor (as long as possible) and will go to any lengths to help her son.
Dad: Male, mid 30s/early 40s. Bright, with quick impulses. Working class background. Easy going until pushed, and even then the tone of his anger is more incredulous than dark.
Jesse: 9 year-old male. Funny, wild, sweet, impulsive, impatient, exuberant, angry, with a mouth on him. Mostly an offstage voice, but a big one.
Dr. Zavala: Female in her 30s. A sensitive, dedicated child psychologist. Eager to help, but a bit anxious herself. Perhaps a bit new at her job.
Carolyn: Female. Mother of an autistic child. Played by the same actor who plays Dr. Zavala.
Waitress: Female. Spacey. ADD. Played by the actor who plays Dr. Zavala
Mrs. Holly: Female. Mid-40s/early 50s. An overworked school teacher for twenty-two years. Strong and straight-headed.
Dr. Waller: Female. An educational neuropsychologist going through a hard time. Played by the actor who plays Mrs. Holly.
Nurse: Female. Down-to-earth. Kind. From a small southern town. Played by the actor who plays Mrs. Holly.
Dr. Daniel Broder: Male. A wise, warm, and compassionate homeopath. Laid-back, just trying to live a healthy life in a toxic world.
Dr. Jinks: Male. A highly respected psychiatrist. Tightly buttoned. Played by the actor who plays Dr. Broder.
Dr. Karnes: Male. An environmental physician, passionate about this new science. Played by the actor who plays Dr. Broder.
Actor with ADD: Impulsive, explosive, and passionate about his medication. Played by the actor who plays Dr. Broder.
Sherry: Female. A well-off suburban mother who wants the very best for her kids. Covers her pain with a smile and chases it with a doughnut.
Vera: Female. A neighbor with no people skills, obsessive-compulsive, pointed and direct. But she does try to be helpful!
Natalie: Teenage female with big mood swings. Open-hearted and angry. A cutter.
