About the show:
This hilarious musical comedy with the eyebrow-raising title, took Broadway by storm when it opened in 2001. The winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score, Urinetown is a social satire set in a fictional future where water is so scarce that the government enforces a ban on private toilets. A hero emerges to lead the people in the fight for their basic rights.
“A fresh, unique, original, impudent, colorful, exciting, irreverent, surprising, and wonderful musical!” – The New York Observer
In a grim, Gotham-like city, a 20-year drought has occurred. As a result, the government has banned private toiletries and the citizens must use pay toilets regulated by a monopolistic company, the Urine Good Company, which charges exorbitant prices. Bobby Strong, the assistant custodian at the poorest urinal in town, decides enough is enough. With the help of Hope Cladwell, the daughterof the CEO of the Urine Good Company, Bobby ends up leading a rebellion which frees the citizens.
The show will run from May 28-June 27, 2015. Performances on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays are at 8PM, and Sunday shows are 3PM matinees. Rehearsals will begin in early April, 2015 (schedule to be determined). All performers in the production will receive a stipend of $350 (flat) for the run of the show.
