Audition – Harold and Maude

Los Altos Stage Company is holding open auditions for Harold and Maude by Colin Higgins.

Nineteen-year-old Harold is obsessed with death. Seventy-nine-year-old Maude adores life.  A chance meeting between the two turns into a madcap, whirlwind romance, teaching Harold that life is worth living. Harold and Maude started as Colin Higgins’ master’s thesis at UCLA Film School, and the script was purchased by Paramount. The film, directed by Hal Ashby, was released in 1971 and it bombed. But soon this quirky, dark comedy began being shown on college campuses and at midnight-movie theaters, and it gained a loyal cult following. This stage version will certainly delight both aficionados of the film and newcomers to the story.

Performance dates: Wednesday through Sunday, June 2nd 2023 to June 25th 2023.

Audition date: Saturday, September 10th, 2022 from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Where: Grant Park, 1575 Holt Ave, Los Altos

Callbacks: Saturday, September 17th, 2022 from 10am-1pm.

Rehearsals: Weekly, Sunday through Thursday, from 6pm-9pm (Sundays) and 7pm-10pm (Monday-Thursday). Rehearsals begin Sunday, April 16th 2023

Actor Acknowledgement: All roles are volunteer and non-AEA. A $15 meal per diem will be provided for rehearsal and performance days to which the actor is called up to a total amount of $500.

Audition requirements:  Please prepare a one-minute (minimum) monologue in the style of the show (dark comedy). Please sign up for a slot on our sign-up genius and fill out our audition form.
