LAYT Audition – High School Musical

Los Altos Youth Theater is holding open auditions for ages 12-18 for High School Musical. Book by David Simpatico. Songs by Matthew Garrard and Robbi veil; Ray Cham, Greg Cham and Andrew Seeley, Randy Petersen and Kevin Quinn; Andy Dood and Adam Watts; Bryan Louiselle; David N. Lawrence and Faye Greenberg; Jamie Houston. Music Adapted, Arranged and Produced by Bryan Louiselle. Based on a Disney Channel Original Movie Written by Peter Barsocchini.

Troy Bolton, the star athlete at a small-town high school, falls for nerdy beauty Gabriella Montez at a holiday karaoke party. When they return to campus, Troy and Gabriella audition for the upcoming school musical. Meanwhile, the jealous Sharpay Evans and her brother Ryan conspire to squelch their chances. The two must struggle to make it to auditions while also meeting their existing obligations to the basketball team and the academic decathlon.

Performance dates: Friday through Sunday, October 28th 2022 through November 6th 2022

Audition date: Sunday, August 28th, 2022 from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Callbacks: Sunday, September 4th from 10:00am to 1:00pm

Where: Grant Park, 1575 Holt Ave, Los Altos

Rehearsals: Weekly, Monday through Friday from 5-8pm. Rehearsals begin Monday, September 19th 2022. 

Audition requirements:  Please prepare a one-minute (minimum) monologue and please bring up to 90 seconds of a song with a track that highlights your range. Please do not sing anything from the show and please bring your own music. We will have an amp and an aux cable. Please bring whatever else you might need to play your track. Additionally, please sign up for a slot on our sign-up genius and fill out our audition form. You will need both to audition.

Participation Fee: If cast, there is a participation fee of $650 in order to register for this production. Limited scholarships available based on need.
