Steel Magnolias written by Robert Harling.

A celebrated Southern classic of family and friendship, Steel Magnolias tells the story of a group of strong and beautiful women who cluster around Truvy’s Beauty Parlour in a small Louisiana parish. The story centers on Shelby, who moves from wedding to childbirth to medical complications with a love of life and a willingness to face its possibilities bravely. Popularly adapted for the screen, see the play that started it all.
Performance dates: Wednesday through Sunday, June 4-June 28, 2020. Wednesday-Saturday performances start at 8pm. Sundays start at 3pm.
Audition date: Saturday, November 9 from 10am-2pm.
Where: Los Altos Stage Company Theatre (97 Hillview Ave, Los Altos)
Callbacks: Saturday, November 23 from 10-2pm.
Rehearsals: Weekly, Sunday through Thursday, from 6pm-9pm (Sundays) and 7pm-10pm (Monday-Thursday). Rehearsals begin April 19, 2020.
Actor Stipend: $450 for rehearsals and performances. All roles are non-AEA.
Audition requirements: Please prepare one 2-minute contemporary monologue. Southern Accents are encouraged but not required.

Truvy Jones (Female, 40’s): Owns the best local beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana.
Annelle Dupuy-Desoto (Female, 19): Originally from Zwolle, Annelle has just moved to Chinquapin, Louisiana after completing Beauty school.
Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie (Female, 25): is the prettiest girl in Chinquapin county and is about to get married.
M’Lynn Eatenton (Female, 50’s): A socially prominent career woman and also Shelby’s mother.
Ouiser Boudreaux (Female, 60’s): is M’Lynn’s neighbor, wealthy curmudgeon.
Clairee Belcher (Female): is the widow of Chinquapin’s former mayor.
