Casting Notice – The Revolutionists

Los Altos Stage Company is holding open auditions for The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson

Directed by Roneet Aliza Rahamim and Gary Landis

The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson is a fierce, fast-paced comedy set against the turbulent backdrop of the French Revolution. The play brings together four iconic women—a playwright, an assassin, a Caribbean revolutionary, and Marie Antoinette herself—whose lives intertwine in an imagined meeting of minds and hearts. As Paris burns with political upheaval, these women grapple with questions of art, activism, violence, and legacy. Their conversations are witty, passionate, and poignant, blending historical truths with contemporary resonance. Through humor and heartbreak, The Revolutionists explores the power of female friendship and the enduring fight for equality, justice, and the right to have one’s story heard. This play is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining, offering rich roles and vibrant dialogue for its cast.

Rehearsals: 

• Sundays 6 PM – 9 PM, Mondays through Thursdays 7 PM – 10 PM
• First Rehearsal: Sunday July 26, 2026
• Q2Q (mandatory): 12 PM – 10 PM Sunday August 30, 2026
• Tech week (mandatory): Monday August 31, 2026 through September 2, 2026; 6 – 11 PM

Performances: 

• Wednesdays through Sundays; September 3, 2026 through September 27, 2026
• Wednesday through Saturday performances are @ 8 PM and Sundays are @ 3 PM
• Call time is typically 7 PM or 2 PM

Audition requirements: Please prepare a two-minute contemporary comedic monologue

It is preferable that you audition in person, but if you are unable to do so, video submissions will be considered.  Please fill out the audition form linked above and send your video to rebecca.lasc@gmail.com by 10 PM on Friday May 15, 2026. 

Callbacks must be in person. 

Actor Acknowledgement: A $15 meal reimbursement will be provided for rehearsal and performance days to which the actor is called up to a total amount of $500.

Olympe de Gouges (Female Identifying, 20-60) – A passionate playwright fighting for her voice and her words to make a difference.

Charlotte Corday (Female Identifying, 17-40) – A fierce, idealistic assassin determined to change history with a single act.

Marianne Angelle (Female Identifying, 20-60) – A courageous Haitian rebel demanding freedom for her people.

Marie Antoinette (Female Identifying, 20-60) – The infamous, extravagant queen, unexpectedly insightful and deeply human beneath her royal persona.
