Audition Notice – Mean Girls, The Musical

Los Altos Youth Theater is holding open auditions for ages 11-18 for Mean Girls, The Musical.

SYNOPSIS

How fetch! After years in the making, Mean Girls: The Musical hits the stage with the favorite characters from the movie, powerful music, and timely pop culture and news references. Janis Sarkisian and Damian Hubbard welcome the audience to their “Cautionary Tale”: Cady Heron is the new girl at North Shore High School in Chicago, desperate to fit in and find friends. Janis and Damian befriend the new girl, and when the most popular girls in school set their sights on Cady, Janis convinces naïve Cady to be their “friend” in order to bring down Queen Bee Regina George’s reign. Along the way, Cady loses herself, her friends, and her crush, all for the chance to be popular and loved. When a dethroned Regina gets revenge by releasing the Burn Book, Cady is brought down and must mend her broken relationships with Janis, Aaron, and even Regina. With dynamic songs for young performers, Mean Girls is an anthem to friendship, loyalty, girl power, and being true to yourself.

AUDITIONS

Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 22 at Grant Park (1585 Holt Ave., Los Altos) from 10:00-2:00. Please sign up for one slot HERE.

Please fill out an audition form HERE and prepare a musical theatre song in the style of the show along with a backing or karaoke track. We will have a speaker available.

CALLBACKS

Callbacks are specifically to cast the larger, solo-singing roles. This show is a cast-all, so if you are ages 11-18 and don’t have too many conflicts, you will automatically be in the production. However, we might want to see you again to have you read and sing from the show. Callbacks will be held on Sunday, August 23 at Grant Park from 10:00-1:00. You will be expected to attend the entire three hours. You will be notified on Saturday evening via email if you are needed and we’ll send you specific materials then.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Please print out a copy of the Rehearsal Calendar located HERE, cross off any days you cannot be at rehearsal, and bring it with you to auditions.

PARTICIPATION FEE

There is a $700 participation fee to register for this production. Limited scholarships available based on need.
